BrytaAfrica is an app for discovering African history and folktales through short story-led lessons. It is designed for people who want to learn a little every day without feeling like they are back in school.
Who is it for?
Families, students, teachers, diaspora learners, and anyone curious about African stories and cultures. Children can enjoy the stories, and adults can go deeper through context, chapters, and narration.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can start learning for free. The app is designed so families, students, teachers, and curious readers can begin without a gate in front of them.

Stories and sources
Who writes the stories?
Stories are shaped by editors, storytellers, and subject-matter review. The goal is simple: write clearly, credit sources, and make important lives memorable.
Where do you get your sources?
We use historical records, scholarship, oral traditions, and regional context. Where the record is thin or contested, the app should say so instead of pretending certainty.
Can I suggest a story?
Yes. Send us a note from the contact page. We especially welcome suggestions with region, source, language, or family context.
How do I report a correction?
Use the contact page with the story title, the sentence in question, and the source or context we should review.
Sọfúnmi and Speak
Where is Speak going?
Language learning has a dedicated home in Sọfúnmi, our separate app for African languages with real native speakers. Speak is being removed from updated BrytaAfrica apps. BrytaAfrica remains your home for African stories.
Will my account, progress or subscription transfer?
No. Sọfúnmi is a separate app. BrytaAfrica accounts, Speak progress and subscriptions do not transfer. Existing Speak learning data is preserved.
Can I still use Speak in an older BrytaAfrica app?
Existing Speak resources remain available for older app versions while readers update. Updated versions direct you to information about Sọfúnmi.

Is BrytaAfrica free?

Can I cancel anytime?
If you subscribe through an app store, cancellation is managed through that store account.

Privacy
Do you sell personal data?
